About

Think or Swim? is a filmmaking project based in the South West of England involving 36 young people aged between 13 and 15 years old and is run by Bristol Natural History Consortium.

Between October ’06 and April ’07 the young participants will attend a series of climate change workshops aiming to inform the group about the current issues and how climate change will affect them.

The 6 groups have also been affiliated with a community filmmaking company who will support and mentor them through a series of filmmaking workshops and activities to develop their skills to become a film production crew.

The groups will then use these skills to each produce a short film of less than 10 minutes based on their response to climate change issues. The resulting series of 6 short films will be taken on a screening tour of the South West throughout the summer of 2007, will be made available on-line and will eventually form a DVD which will be available upon request.

The project has been made possible with the support of DEFRA’s Climate Change Fund.

The young participants hail from:

City of Bristol College working with Nathan Hughes
City Academy Bristol working with Firstborn Creatives
Writhlington School, Radstock working with Suited and Booted
Blue School, Wells working with Calling the Shots
Chiltern Trinity School, Bridgewater working with The Engine Room
Hengrove Community Arts College, Bristol working with Knowle West Media Centre
